Thelma Katherine Palic, 89, passed peacefully after a short illness on July 16, 2025.
Thelma was born on November 4, 1935, on a farm outside of Atwood, Kansas, to Frank J. and Frances [Barenberg] Brown. She spent her early years helping her parents on the farm and attended a rural one-room school until grade eight.
After graduating high school, Thelma moved to McCook, Nebraska to work. One cold Sunday morning, Paul noticed Thelma walking home from church. He offered her a ride home. Not long after, the two were married. This union was blessed with seven children.
Paul's job with the government brought the family to different communities in Nebraska and Colorado. They settled in Julesburg, where she and Paul lived until her death.
Thelma became the Sedgwick County deputy treasurer and worked at the town hall for 18 years until her retirement. Thelma enjoyed visiting her many grandchildren, hosting holiday dinners, quilting, baking, and having coffee with her friends. Everyone loved her cinnamon rolls! She especially looked forward to planning family reunions, where all her children and grandchildren could gather together.
Thelma is survived by her husband of 64 years, Paul, sister Jeannine Curry, daughters Beverly Earley, Lisa (Raymond) Bisio, Michelle (John) Cheever, sons Joseph Palic, Allen (Amber) Palic, Kevin (Tina) Palic, and Daniel (Rhonda) Palic, 19 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Frances Brown; sister, Rosemarie Kogl; brother, Florian Brown; son-in-law, Thomas K. Earley; and daughter-in-law, Jackie Palic.
Thelma was a kind and loving soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
