Susanna G. Plasencia

May 19, 1943 — April 29, 2023

Susanna Celestina (Garcia) Plasencia, age 79, devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, April 29, 2023, just 20 days short of her 80th birthday.

Susie was born on May 19, 1943, in Ovid, CO, to Frank and Connie Garcia and was the eldest of ten siblings. She lived in Ovid and Julesburg, Colorado, and Ogallala, Nebraska, for many years until she moved her family to Sacramento, CA, in 1967. This is where she met her husband, Angel, and they married in 1972. They moved to Boulder, Colorado, shortly after, where she lived the rest of her life. Susie followed in her mother's footsteps and became a Cosmetologist. She worked at other salons until she opened her own shop called Candy's Hair. In addition, she worked in the beauty shop at the old Boulder Community Hospital on Broadway, which included doing hair and make-up for the deceased.

Susie raised her family in the Martin Acres area for almost 50 years. She volunteered in the community, served as a board member of Martin Acres and Alvarado Village, and served many years as an election judge. She was the neighborhood Girl Scout leader who enjoyed teaching others how to make Mexican food, especially her homemade tortillas. If you knew Susie, it might have been through her selling everything under the sun, such as Tupperware, Avon, Mary Kay, Amway, Home Interior, and Tiara. She did an assortment of hobbies like decorating cakes, playing board games with family, puzzles, and even painting. Even for having seven kids, she always supported each of them by attending their school events, softball games, cheerleading, and band performances. She was also very proud to see her sons serve in the Army and her daughter in the Marines.

Susie was very family oriented and was loved by all. She was very social, had a heart of gold, and had a great sense of humor. There was so much to love about her, and she always made it a point to keep in touch with friends and family afar. Susie loved all genres of music, especially the kind that made her dance! She was also an avid Denver Broncos and CU Buffs fan and enjoyed attending games. There wasn't a day you wouldn't see her riding her electric cart around Boulder or taking a ride on the bus, which was her freedom. But most of all, she loved her children and lived for them. After a courageous, short-lived battle with cancer, she stayed humble with a positive attitude and always had a smile on her face.

She is survived by her brothers, John, Dan (Rose), Sam, and Luis; sisters: Dorothy, Joanne (Louis), Carol (Joe); seven children: Enrique, Dora Marie (Luis), Roger (Sheila), Theresa (Ray), Angela (Deborah), Veronica, Victoria (Lucio); grandchildren Guadalupe (Anita), Alicia, Erika (Rodney), Gaberiella, Kasandra, Evander, Anthony (Kallie), Mariah, Beliza, Angelica (Isaac), Esequiel Jr., Alfonso, Alicia, Andres, Tino, Marco, Lucia; great-grandchildren Luis, Morgan, Joseph, John, Sally, Maddx, Alfonso, Evy, Jackson, Ajalei, Ramsey, Korde, Desmond, Rylie, Sasha, Rigo, Blessin, Isaac Jr., Jazelle, Xavier, Ezeleena, Esequiel III, Samuel; great-great-grandchildren Xavian, Meadow, and her dog Lily.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Connie, brother Tom, sister Luisa, baby grandson Gabriel, and baby great-granddaughters Adaleah and Jozlyn.
