SCOTT KENT HOUGHTON, 68, of Julesburg, Colorado, passed away January 30, 2026, at his home in Julesburg.
Scott was born August 24, 1957, in Guymon, Oklahoma, to George Robert "Bob" Houghton and Elsie Josephine "Joey" (Spatzel) Houghton. He grew up in the Guymon area and later made his home in Colorado.
Scott proudly served his country in the United States Navy Seabees, which was something he was very proud of. Following his military service, he worked primarily in construction, amassing extensive experience as a skilled heavy equipment operator. Scott had a natural ability to work with his hands and took pride in his work. Scott worked for Seaboard, FEC, Frenchman Valley Coop, Town of Ovid, and retired after working at Sedgwick County Road and Bridge.
On June 21, 1981, Scott married Francis R. Blount. The couple made Gruver, Texas, their home and had 2 children: Annie Houghton, born on March 23, 1984, and Scott Houghton, Jr., born on December 31, 1985. Eventually, the couple made their home in Julesburg. Scott enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles and had a lifelong love of engines and mechanics. He especially enjoyed working on his drag car. Scott also loved spending time outdoors-fishing, hunting, and just enjoying nature whenever possible. He seemed able to fix or build just about anything, from working on vehicles to welding and woodworking.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Houghton; his sister, Martha Lajoie; his stepbrother, Danny Hollingsworth; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Survivors include his wife, Francis Houghton of Julesburg; children, Annie (Chris Dutton) Lovenburg of Julesburg, Scott Houghton Jr. of Julesburg; grandchildren, Hunter Houghton (Luis Rodriguez) of Julesburg, Braxton Lovenburg, Canyon Lovenburg, and Willow Dutton; brother, Robert Lajoie of Prague, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Kathy Houghton of Boulder, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends.
