Richard L. Giesey

RICHARD L. GIESEY, 75, of Sedgwick, CO, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at his home.

Richard was born May 6, 1947, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Richard and Betty (Wolfe) Giesey. The family moved to Colorado while Richard was young. He graduated from high school in Boulder.

Following high school, Richard went to work for a Mobil Gas Station. He worked as a mechanic and eventually started his own shop, Dayton Auto Repair.

Richard loved cars, not only working on them but also racing. He regularly ran his 1969 Road Runner at Bandimere Speedway for many years. Richard also had many trophies from the Tri-State Auto Show. In later years, he enjoyed racing at the Julesburg Race Track, which brought him to the area.

Richard was an avid collector of antique toys. He also loved to shoot and did so competitively for many years.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his sisters, Beverly Morissette, of Arvada, CO, Betty Charlene Giesey; brothers, Roger Giesey of Longmont, CO, Ronald Giesey of Centennial, CO; one niece and one nephew, and many friends.

Memorial services will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Julesburg. Condolences may be shared with the family at prairiehillsjulesburg.com.
