Richard Allen Bartlett

October 19, 1948 — September 10, 2024

Richard Allen Bartlett, 75, of Chappell, Nebraska, passed away on September 10, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born on October 19, 1948, in Greeley, Colorado, the fourth of 11 children to Lee and Emma Elizabeth (Spaedt) Bartlett. He graduated from Hemet High School in Hemet, California, with the Class of 1968. He continued his education in college, where he studied real estate. Richard would go on to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Germany.

In 1969, Richard married Teresa Holcomb in Hemet, California. The couple made their home in Hemet, where they raised their daughters. Richard worked as the general manager for Roto-Rooter and was also skilled in masonry, plumbing, and general construction, building walls and commercial structures throughout his career.

Richard was known for his deep love of family and profound devotion to God. He was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. Among many things, Richard was loving, kind, gentle, and slightly stubborn. He had a passion for cars that was woven through all of the seasons of his life. He enjoyed working on countless projects over the years, his most recent project being a 1957 Chevy.

Though Richard always maintained that he wasn't a pet lover, animals always gravitated toward him. They'd invariably find a comfortable place on his lap if and when there wasn't a grandchild sitting on Papa's lap already.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lee and Emma Bartlett; and sisters, Julie Kerr and Cindy Cathcart.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Teresa Bartlett; children, Gina Bartlett, Lisa (Tom) Bisgrove, Hope (Collin) Haire; grandchildren, Rick Bartlett, T.J Bisgrove, Marisa (Anthony) DiTullio, Miranda Bisgrove, Emilie Haire, and Teagan Haire; brothers, Louis, Dennis, Don, Lee, and Steve Bartlett; sisters, Patricia Bousquet, Lynn Rodriquez, and Shelly Esparza; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Plains in memory of Richard. Condolences may be shared online at prairiehillsjulesburg.com.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chappell Pool Park in Chappell, Nebraska. The family invites those attending to bring their hot rods to honor Richard's life and passion.
