Obituary

Randall R. "Randy" Kroft, 73, of Julesburg, Colorado, passed away August 10, 2026, following an auto accident near Big Springs, Nebraska.

Randy was born January 27, 1953, in David City, Nebraska, to Gerald Ray Kroft and Alice Nadine (Miller) Kroft. He attended a country school and graduated from David City High School with the class of 1971.

After graduation, Randy left David City and worked in road construction, later settling in Lincoln, where he worked as a printer. He had a long career in the printing industry along with a transition to real estate development which eventually gave way to what would become his great love: building hot rods. From Lincoln he moved to Loveland, Colorado, then back to David City in the early 2000s, then to the Bellwood area, and finally to Julesburg in 2018.

Randy and Christine Novak were united in marriage in August that same year. It was the races at the Julesburg Drag Strip that first drew him to the area, and in recent years he had enjoyed fixing and building hot rods at his shop in Big Springs. Randy was active in the Midwest Street Rod Association, and formerly a founding member of the Nebraska Pontiac club along with the Lincoln Area Street Rods and many other Nebraska car groups. He was loved and respected in the car-building community.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald.

He is survived by his wife, Christina, of Julesburg; his children, Grant Kroft of Waterloo and Jennifer Kroft (David Hartsell) of Lincoln; his siblings, John (Avis) Kroft, Gary (Marilyn) Kroft, and David (Susan) Kroft; and many other relatives, dear friends and his beloved shop cats.

Per the family's wishes, no public services will be held. A private family service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Randy's memory care of Grant Kroft, 3505 South 264th Street, Waterloo, NE 68069. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com.

Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Julesburg is in charge of arrangements.
