Karen Szeluga

Karen Szeluga Young, 85, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away at HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction.

Karen was born on November 27, 1940, in Ovid, Colorado, to Charles (Chick) and Mercedes Williamson.

Karen graduated from Sedgwick High School. While attending high school, she enjoyed singing and was a drum majorette. She met Warren while in high school. They were married on December 7, 1957. They welcomed their son Kelly in February 1958, daughter Vicky in December 1959, Daphne (Susie) in January 1963, and Timothy (Tim) in June, 1966.

Karen was a homemaker until all the kids started school. She then began working outside the home in a variety of jobs. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, long scenic rides in the car, and shopping.

Survived by Kelly and Loretta Young (son/daughter-in-law), Colorado Springs, Vicky and George Chambers(daughter/son-in-law), Grand Junction, Daphne(Susie) and Dave Lopez, daughter/son-in-law, Denver , Timothy (Tim) and Pam Young (son/daughter-in-law), Benton, AR. seven grandchildren, eleven Great-grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Warren, brother James, and husband Al Szeluga.

Services will be held on June 8, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sedgwick Community Presbyterian Church, 428 West Ave, Sedgwick, CO 80749. Inurnment will follow in the Sedgwick Cemetery.
