JOHNNY WILLARD STRACK, of Julesburg, CO, passed away on June 29, 2023, at the Sedgwick County Nursing Home in Julesburg.

Johnny was born on November 29, 1936, to Frank and Mabel Strack (Livgren) in Julesburg, Colorado. He graduated with the class of 1955 from Venango High School. In 1959 John joined the US Army Reserves and was Honorable discharged in October 1965. He would make his home in Carthage, MO, before moving to Julesburg, CO.

Johnny married Betty Fitzgerald on December 25, 1995, in Julesburg, where the couple resided their entire married lives. Johnny poured his heart into his work as a farmhand for nearly 25 years at the Deden farm. He was passionate about his work and appreciated the beauty of the land he worked.

Johnny was known for his generous spirit and sense of humor. He always wore a smile, and in later years put it to excellent use when working as a greeter at Walmart. Each day, he used this simple act to spread joy, making people feel valued.

Johnny's passions extended beyond his work. An avid sports fan, he never missed watching a game of his beloved Cougars, Huskers or Denver Broncos. Whether in victory or defeat, Johnny's support for his teams didn't fade.

Johnny was a man of faith who loved his family immensely. He would seemingly do anything for those in need, and his steady kindness and gentleness were a testament to the faith he professed.

John is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, and brothers, Lloyd Strack and Merlin Strack.

Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Prescott of Carthage, MO; sons, Ricky Strack of Sidney, NE, and Tommy Strack of Carthage; stepchildren, James (Vicki) Freitag of Yakima, WA, Mary Clark of Sterling, CO, Roger (Sue) Freitag of Parker, CO and Ethel (Craig) Leef of Julesburg, CO; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
