JOHN D. RHODES, 79, of Julesburg, CO, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Sedgwick County Hospital in Julesburg, CO.
John was born in Julesburg, CO, on September 30, 1944, to John and Elizabeth (Lundburg) Rhodes.
John's love for his family was evident in his upbringing on the family farm in the Fairfield Community, north of Haxtun, CO, with his four sisters. He cherished his time there, creating lasting memories. He graduated from Haxtun High School in 1963.
John's unwavering dedication to his country was a testament to his character. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in April 1965 and served with pride for three years. Sergeant Rhodes was an aircraft mechanic stationed at Yakota Air Force Base in Japan.
John married Lynette Alberts in Holyoke, CO and had two children, Brenda and Scott. They later divorced.
John worked as a machinist for TIMPTE Trailers in Denver, CO, for many years. After working for TIMPTE Trailers, he was a machinist at Morse Chain Company for several years. In 2019, he moved back to Julesburg to be closer to family and enjoyed the slower-paced life.
John found joy in his hobbies, particularly his love for classic cars. He was especially fond of his Classic Ford, which brought him many happy memories.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and son, Scott Rhodes.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Morrison, of Westminster, CO; grandsons, Scott Morrison and Trevor Morrison; sisters, Betty Smith (Ray) of Fowler, CO; Mary Young of Julesburg, CO; Marlene Gastellum (David) of Fort Bragg, CA; and Virginia Garcia (Ruben) of Phoneix, AZ; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Julesburg, with Pastor Alan Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Haxtun Cemetery at Haxtun, CO.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Julesburg.
