John D. Miller

JOHN D. MILLER, 83, of Julesburg, CO, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at UC Health Center in Greeley, CO.

John was born on September 23, 1939, to John and Amie Miller (French) in Crestview, TN. At the age of 16, he moved to CA and completed his education there before joining the US Navy in 1958.

During his time in the Navy, John discovered his passion for working on cars, particularly Fords, and became a skilled drag racing mechanic. He immersed himself in the world of racecar drivers, finding joy in the thrill of racing and his love for automobiles.

On January 10, 2017, John married Virginia Collins. The couple resided in Julesburg, where John continued working on cars and being active in the racing community.

In his final moments, John found solace in reciting the Lord's Prayer.

John is preceded in death by his parents, brother James Miller, and his first wife, Carol.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Julesburg; son, Dallas (Tina) Miller of Salina, Kansas; stepson Dave (Betty) Collins of Julesburg; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in John's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Ovid Cemetery.
