JESSIE SERRATO, 94, of Greeley, formerly of Julesburg, CO, passed away November 27, 2022, at the Broadview Nursing and Rehab Center in Greeley.
Jessie was born June 1, 1928, at Sedgwick, CO to Ignacio and Ismael (Tapia) Jimenez. She grew up in a large family and was one of the older children; as such, she was a special caregiver for many of her younger siblings.
She married Norberto Serrato, and the couple made their home in Atwood, CO.
Jessie loved fishing and gardening. She always had a special love for softball and enjoyed watching and playing the game over the years with her family. In her younger days, Jessie liked to dance. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, or just enjoying their moments together. Jessie enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino and was always grateful for the fun she had.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Norberto Serrato; sons-in-law, David Ortiz & Russell Varos; two sisters, Nellie and Connie; two brothers, Pete and Herman; half-sisters, Laura and Lupe; half-brothers, Pat and John.
Survivors include her children, Joe (Karen) Jimenez, Jesus (Ruby) Jimenez, Gloria (Ray) Ochoa, Josie Varos, and Dave (Annette) Jimenez; many grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Neisha (Chris) Hernandez; half-siblings, Carmen, Vera, Mary, George, and Frank; along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Jessie's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com.
Funeral Mass will be on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10:00 am at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Julesburg with Fr Herman as Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am before Mass at the church. Interment will be in the Sedgwick Cemetery.
