JAMES (Jim) STANTON ROOK of Denver, CO, passed into the hands of the Lord on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Hallmark Nursing Center in Denver, CO.
Jim was born on December 7, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Harold Stanton "Bud" Rook and Betty Ann (Naslund) Rook.
After spending a part of his childhood in Portland, Oregon, the family resided in Julesburg, Colorado, for many years.
Jim attended high school in Julesburg, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track.
Following study at various state colleges, Jim dedicated 30 years of his career to Midland Federal Savings in the finance and banking sector, opening and managing branch offices in Westminster, Pueblo, and Grand Junction. In 1984, Midland merged with Western Federal Savings, and Jim and his family returned to Denver. Soon after, he left the savings and loan business and completed his career working as a consultant/auditor of banking compliance, traveling throughout the states on a weekly basis and making many new friends in the process.
Throughout his life, Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He was passionate about hunting and fishing, never missing an opening day for deer, elk, and antelope, and finally bagging a big horned sheep to hang on the wall. He shared his passion with family and friends; much of his enjoyment came from exploring nature and appreciating the beauty of Colorado.
Jim also loved the Denver Broncos and was a fan, always anxious for "next season."
Jim was the proud and loving father of three daughters, Tawna Lee, Michelle Marie, and Stephanie Ann, encouraging their interests and following their endeavors.
Jim is survived by his ex-wife, Cheryl Lanckriet Rook; Daughters Tawna Bond (Daven), Michelle Perry (Jody), and Stephanie Reeh (Allan); Grandchildren Megan Bond Sharkey (Matt), Seth Perry (Hannah), Carly Perry, Kannon Perry, and Heath Perry; Great-Grandchildren Max and Milly Sharkey; Lucy, Patrick, and Maggie Perry; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Rory L. Rook.
