Gladys "Ann" Andersen

Gladys "Ann" Andersen, 82, of Julesburg, Colorado, passed away on August 15, 2026, in Julesburg.

Ann was born May 13, 1944, in Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from high school and continued her education at Delta State University, where she earned a degree in Medical Technology. She was one of the very few women in the program at the time.

Ann married Byron Andersen in 1983 in Pensacola, Florida. Their marriage was blessed with one child, Evan, born in 1985. Ann worked at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi until the family moved to Julesburg, Colorado in 1999. She joined the staff at the Sedgwick County Hospital in 2000, where she served as the Laboratory Manager until her retirement in 2010. Ann and Byron were married for 26 years until his passing in 2011.

Ann loved the ocean and smiled the widest when she got the chance to watch dolphins jump through the waves. She had a soft spot for all animals; her loyal dogs were always by her side. Ann spent her happiest hours tending to her flower garden. She found peace and joy in the quiet beauty of her backyard garden. Whether it was football season or summer baseball, she proudly wore her team colors and cheered passionately for the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies.

Ann was a loving woman who told you to call her mom if you were of age. Regardless, she made sure you were taken care of, fed, and listened to-an absolutely amazing woman.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Byron Andersen, and her stepson, Julius "Skipper" Sturgis.

She is survived by her son, Evan (Angie) Andersen; her only sibling, Bobbie Stringer; and many other relatives and friends.

Per Ann's wishes, no services will be held.
