Elvera Dominguez

Nov 8, 1929 — Aug 1, 2026

Elvera Dominguez, 96, of Fort Morgan, formerly of Sidney, passed away August 1, 2026, at her home in Fort Morgan.

Elvera was born November 8, 1929, in Sedgwick, Colorado, to Juan and Epeminia (Mascarenas) Aguiniga. She graduated from high school and, on July 23, 1950, married John L. Dominguez in Julesburg. Their union spanned over seven decades.

Elvera spent her working years as a housekeeper and a cook, and both suited her because, at heart, she was a caregiver. If you needed something, she was there. She was always cooking and baking, and her enchiladas were famous around the family table. She loved family gatherings above almost anything, and that was where her heart shined. She was a feisty little old lady, stubborn in the best way, and every time she got sick, she seemed to come back stronger. She was witty, quick with a joke, and often said it was better to laugh than to cry. For countless people, she was like a second mom. Elvera loved to tell stories about her younger years, and even after dementia set in, she could still recount the old days in detail.

Elvera was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; five sisters; and four brothers.

Elvera is survived by her children, Joe Dominguez (Sandy), Martha L Dominguez Gonzalez (Gabriel), and Mary Carrillo; grandchildren, Rosamaria Delgado (Jose), Rebecca White (Brian), Roxana Avila (Sergio), and Frank Romero (Rachel); great-grandchildren, Brendon White, Alejandro Gonzalez Avila, Cruz Delgado, Emilio Romero, Seidy Avila Amos (Jacob), Angelica Avila, Lexus Delgado, Ana Avila, Jason Romero, Reina Avila, Ashlynn White, Giselle Delgado, and Gianna Romero; great-great-grandchildren, Aliyah Bear, Claire White, Adelynn Delgado, and Isabella Delgado. Survivors also include her brother, Raymond Aguiniga (MaryLou), and her sister, Lupe Martinez; sister-in-law, Margaret Perez, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Julesburg, with Father Mike O'Brien as Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. that morning at the church, prior to the Mass. Burial will be at the Sedgwick Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass time at the church on Friday.
