Dwane "Junior" Maahs passed away Monday, May 16, 2022, at Regent Park Nursing and Rehab in Holyoke.
Junior was born December 21, 1941, in Julesburg to Dwane and Pauline (Engelker) Maahs. He attended country school and graduated from Sedgwick county high school with the class of 1960.
On June 17, 1962, Junior married Sandra Roth. The couple moved to Oregon for a short while to work in the lumber mills before moving back to Julesburg to farm with Junior's dad south of town. Eventually, the couple moved to town, which led to Junior taking up golf. From that point on, he was hooked.
Junior also had a great love for fast cars, particularly Shelby Mustangs. He owned several of the cars over the years and always enjoyed getting them out on the road. Junior farmed to make money, but his passions were family, fast cars, and playing golf.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Sandi of Julesburg; daughter, Ginger (Doug) Stutzman of Humble, TX; son, Tracy (Victoria) Maahs of Lake Forest, CA; five grandchildren, Fontagne (Cody) Paxton, Avery Stutzman, Avalon (Justin) Knighten, Ethan Maahs, and Emily Maahs; one great-grandson, Waylon Paxton; sisters, Geraldine Klug, and Beverly Elting.
