Donald Stretesky

Don Stretesky, 102, of Julesburg, Colorado, passed away on October 9, 2026, in Julesburg.

Don was born on October 1, 1924, in Pauline, Nebraska, to Joe and Mary (Jaboneck) Stretesky. He graduated from high school and went on to serve his country in the military. On December 20, 1943, Don married Virginia Vogt. The couple settled on a farm just outside of Julesburg, where they raised their family and shared their lives together.

Don worked as an electrician, a trade he continued throughout his working years. In addition to his work as an electrician, he and Virginia maintained their farm, tending to the land while raising their family in rural Julesburg. Don lived a remarkable 102 years, witnessing more than a century of change in the community he proudly called home.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia (Vogt) Stretesky; his sons, Donald Lee Stretesky and Neil Stretesky; and his grandson, Dylan Ricciardella.

He is survived by his son, Lon Stretesky, and his wife, Sherri; his daughter, Cher Colin, and her husband, Marc; and his daughter-in-law, Nellie Stretesky. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Trina Seebach and her husband, Matt; Laura Knox and her husband, Craig; Danell Ricciardella and her husband, Domenic; Mitchell Stretesky and his wife, Sara; Leah Anne Lauritsen and her husband, Darren; Ryan Stretesky and his wife, Tara; Morgan Colin; and Scott Colin; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Prairie Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Julesburg, with Pastor Larry Nail officiating. Visitation will begin 30 minutes prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will follow at Big Springs Cemetery.
