On July 8, 2021, at the Sedgwick County Nursing Home, Julesburg, CO, Shirley Jean (Remington) Fraker, age 92, went home to be with the love of her life Dean and her Lord Jesus Christ.
Shirley was born August 19, 1928, at the Remington Ranch near Big Springs, NE, to Howard and Edith (Buttle) Remington. She was the oldest of 3 children brought to this union. She attended Day School and graduated from Big Springs High School. After graduation, she taught at a country school near Big Springs for several years.
On May 23, 1947, she married Stanley Dean Fraker in Big Springs, NE. To this union, six children were born, Peggy, Sheryl, Terry, David, Debra, and James.
Shirley was a farm wife and was active in her church, Women's groups, 4-H, and worked as a CNA at the hospital. She also would take care of the elderly in their homes. Her greatest love was her family. She always made time in her busy schedule to have her grandchildren spend their week at the farm. She always made sure she was available to take care of every new grandchild. She always opened up her home to friends, family, and anyone who needed a place to stay.
Survivors include her children, Peggy (David) Dahlhauser of Lakewood, CO, Sheryl Holiman of Garden City, KS, Terry (Georgia) Fraker of Brandon, SD, David (Gay) Fraker of Homer, AK, Debra (Roger) DeMaranville of Scottsbluff, NE and Jim (Paula) Fraker of Julesburg, CO, her brother Marvin (Marietta) Remington of Longmont, CO, sister-in-law Waite Fraker of Castle Rock, CO. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by husband Dean Fraker, parents Howard and Edith Remington, parents-in-law Stanley and Fern Fraker, infant daughter Linda, granddaughter Mellissa Madden, son-in-law Larry Holiman and sister Cora Belle Dehning.
Services will be held Monday, July 12, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Julesburg Christian Church, with Pastor Larry Nail officiating. Interment will be in the Ovid Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Julesburg Public Library and Hospice of the Plains. Memorials may be sent to Jim Fraker, 720 W. 4th St., Julesburg, CO 80737. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com, where the services will be streamed live.
