Ronald A Smith

RONALD A. "SMITTY" SMITH, 75 of Julesburg, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019, at his home.

Ron was born August 20, 1943, at Julesburg, Colorado to William McKinley and Florence Ora (Ricker) Smith.

Ron graduated from Julesburg High School and subsequently took over his father's hay business. Ron went on to join the U.S. Army, where he served in Germany. He eventually took a job as a mechanic with John Deere, where he worked for several years. Ron later went to work at the Renquist Feed Lot working on their machinery and during the harvest.

Ron was incredibly open and accepting of people, and always seemed to find what was good and interesting in people. Ron also loved old tractors and amassed quite the collection over the years.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wilma; and a brother, Wilbur.

Survivors include his brother, Wayne (Joan) Smith of Westminster, CO; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial has been established in Ron's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Julesburg with Pastor Alan Harris officiating.

Burial will be in the Julesburg Hillside Cemetery.
