Rachel Jo Granillo

October 31, 1966 — November 3, 2020

RACHEL J. GRANILLO, 54, of Julesburg, passed away at her home and entered the gates of Heaven on November 3, 2020. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend.

Rachel was born on October 31, 1966, to Juan Antonio and Josephina (Mendoza) Guzman Sr. She graduated from Julesburg High School with the class of 1985.

On September 2, 1989, Rachel married the love of her life, Denny L. Granillo. The couple made their home together in Julesburg and were blessed with two girls, Kassara and MaKayla. The love that Rachel and Denny shared was a deep love that lasted through many years of happiness, sadness, good times and bad. No matter what the couple faced, they faced it together and always came out stronger! Their love and commitment to each other was an inspiration to their family. It was truly an incredible example that love conquers all!

Rachel worked as a waitress for a few years before starting her own successful home daycare business. She cared for the children of the area for over twenty years and she loved each and every child that came into her care as her own. Even when the kids would grow up and leave her care to go to school, graduate, and make lives of their own, Rachel made sure they always knew her door was always open to them. She made sure to attend their birthdays, programs, and sporting events whenever she could.

Rachel had a deep love and commitment to her family. Her heart was with her grandchildren, and she spent as much time with them as she could. Whether it was taking them to the pool to swim, to the park to play, teaching them how to cook, or watching them ride their bikes, Rachel was always right there! She never missed any of their sporting events, programs, birthdays, or holidays. She was always there to love and support them all through every special moment. Her family meant everything to her and she always did everything she could to make sure they felt safe, loved and cared for. As they grew older, her daughters became her best friends and they shared an unbreakable bond! Rachel was the best example of everything a remarkable mother, wife, and woman can be. Her daughters loved and admired her more than anyone and feel blessed to have had such an amazing example to follow in raising their own families.

Rachel was the most caring and compassionate woman. She had a heart for children, which guided her success in childcare. Loving, kind, and patient, Rachel truly had the heart of a caregiver. She made sure each and every child felt special and loved every single day. All of the kids and daycare families loved Rachel's cooking. Her fresh tortillas, beans, soap, and rice, were only a few of the MANY delicious home cooked meals made with love that were everyone's favorites! No matter who you were, Rachel never let anyone leave without a full belly and some food to go.

Rachel was a caretaker, but not just for children. She spent her life caring for her husband, her children, grandchildren, her siblings, her mother, the daycare kids and their families. Even then, it didn't stop there. Anyone who met her or entered her home was always in Rachel's thoughts and prayers whether she knew them for years or just a few minutes. God truly blessed her with a heart to serve, and she did it well! Always cooking, cleaning, lending an ear to listen or offering a shoulder to cry on. Rachel always selflessly put others needs above her own to make sure everyone else was okay and taken care of. She never complained and was always thankful for the life she had. Rachel left behind a true legacy of love in all she did, and it will remain within the hearts of the many people's lives she touched!
