Norma J Bodenstedt

Norma Jean Bodenstedt, 90, of Ovid, passed away March 14, 2022, at the Sedgwick County Hospital in Julesburg, CO.

Norma was born on December 2, 1931, to William and Lucile (Worthley) Bodenstedt in Sterling, CO. Norma graduated from Sedgwick County High School with the class of 1949.

She attended a one-room schoolhouse, South 68, near Sedgwick. Following high school, Norma worked in Denver at Craig Hospital as a cook for many years. In the mid-1960s, Norma moved back to Julesburg, where she babysat numerous children in Sedgwick County.

Norma loved animals and was an avid reader. She was very creative and spent a lot of time crafting, drawing, listening to music, and painting. Norma even wrote stories, one of which received newspaper publication. She also had a penchant for crossword puzzles.

Norma moved into the nursing home in August of 2021. She was their Valentine Queen on Valentine's Day of 2022.

Norma was preceded by her parents, two step-parents, two sisters, two brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her sister, Flora Beth (Orville) Fredrick, of Julesburg, niece Debra (Doug) Mollendor and family of Ovid, Brenda (Mike) Dilsaver and family, of Julesburg, Daniel (Donita) Fredrick and family of Colwich, KS, Sherry (Doug) Church and family of Phoenix, AZ, Kathy (Bill) Brunkhardt and family of Bella Vista, AR, Gary Albrecht and family of Lakewood, CO, Diane (Charles) Emer and family of Chino Valley, AZ, Myron (Teresa) Howitt and family of Fruita, CO, Pam (Fred) Girk and family of Clifton, CO, and many nieces & nephews, family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to JDRF.org for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for people with Type 1 Diabetes.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Brown, Dr. Regier, and the entire staff of the Sedgwick County Health Center, hospital, and Sedgwick County Nursing Home. We appreciate how much you all helped Aunt Norma before & during her passing. We are so lucky to have a wonderful & caring place for our loved ones. Bless you, all!
