Gavino "Dino" Pena

Gavin (Dino) Pena, 56, of Venango, NE, passed on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Perkins County Hospital, in Grant, NE. On December 29, 1964, he was born to Rodolfo Pena and Guadalupe Pena in Julesburg, CO. He was raised in Ovid, CO.
He graduated from Revere High School, Sedgwick, CO, in 1983. During high school, Gavin enjoyed and excelled in wrestling. He competed in the Colorado State Championship level during his junior and senior years. Throughout his life, Gavin enjoyed being part of a big family.
His favorite hobby was woodworking, specifically refurbishing antique furniture. He also enjoyed the company of Lamb Chop, the family poodle. Gavin always believed in physical fitness, especially taking long walks. For these walks, his daily companion was Lamb Chop.
He moved to the Greeley area but returned to Northeastern Colorado, where he met September Patten of Venango. September Patten survives him, and they enjoyed 12 years together. They have lived in the Holyoke, CO, and Venango, NE, areas throughout their relationship.
He was previously married to Debbie Stockham. This union was blessed with four daughters. Felicia Frye-Claussen (Tara), Cecilia Bates (Jeff), Melanie Allen (Brent), Sabrina Byrd (Kyle), and fourteen grandchildren, all of Adair, OK.
Gavin is survived by eight siblings, Lupe Casias, Sedgwick, Emma Pena-McCleave (Robert), Greeley, CO, Ester Dominguez (Juan), Greeley, Eloise Rocha (Roy) Ft. Collins, CO, Rudy Pena (Darla), Sidney, NE, Dennis Pena, Greeley, Anna Mancha, Greeley, Angel Holt (Joe), Kersey, CO.
A Memorial Service for Gavin (Dino) Pena will be held on September 6, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Community Presbyterian Church, 428 W. Ave., Sedgwick, CO. The service will be followed immediately by a reception/lunch at noon at the Sedgwick Antique Inn, 100 Main, Sedgwick, CO.
