Dale Sidney Metheny

DALE S. METHENY, 62, of Ovid, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022, at her home.
Dale was born May 9, 1960, at Sidney, Nebraska, to Charles and Arlene (Evert) Sheets. She attended school in Sidney and in Wyoming before graduating from Potter High School.
Dale worked for several years at Cabela's distribution center. On October 14, 1987, she married Dave Metheny at Sidney. The couple eventually moved to Texas in June of 1999. In 2008, they moved to Ovid, which became Dale's favorite of all places to live.
Dale had a great love for animals, particularly her dogs. She enjoyed playing computer games and watching some of the classic shows of her era, like I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show, and Tom & Jerry. Dale had an endearing child-like quality to her humor, and when she laughed, it always brought a smile to the people around her.
Dale was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dave, a daughter, Sheila Van Natter, and brother-in-law Leonard Clarke.
Survivors include her sisters, Debbie (Mark) Russo of Raymore, MO; Donna Clarke of Prairie Du Chein, WI, and Diana Martin of Cheyenne, WY; step-sister, Lenore Johnson of Rigby, ID, son, Keith Furrey; sisters-in-law, Sandy Paiz of Elgin, TX; Penny (Randy) Metheny of Ogallala; brother-in-law Tim (Stephanie) Metheny of Garden City, KS; good friends, Denise Simpson, Bud, and Gloria Kinnison; along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Dale's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsjulesburg.com.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Ovid Cemetery, with Pastor Alan Harris officiating.
