Connie Schwartzkopf

May 30, 1941 — May 14, 2020

CONNIE JEAN (JOHNSON) SCHWARTZKOPF, 78 of Haxtun, CO, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020, at the Haxtun Hospital District, in Haxtun CO.

Connie was born on May 30, 1941, to Laura Ruth (Bales) Johnson and James Blaine Johnson in Council Bluffs, IA.

Connie attended High School in Colorado. She then chose to work and save so that she could buy a horse (Tiny) and board her at the Schwartzkopf Ranch.

The times Connie had with the Schwartzkopf family resulted in a very close second family for her. All of the "Cowboy" crazy experiences are irreplaceable.

Connie married LeRoy McLean in April 1961. During this union, they had four daughters Shannon, Lee Ann, Kerrie, and Samantha.

In November 1989, Connie married Ronald Schwartzkopf. Her adventures with Ron and the Schwartzkopf family continued, only this time it was Harley's instead of horses. Ron taught her how to ride, and they traveled all over the country together, the stories are endless.

Connie was a Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) and worked for several Nursing Homes in the Denver area. She loved working with the elderly and listening to their life stories. It wasn't just a job to her. Those she cared for became a part of her extended family. Connie retired at the age of 62.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Laura Ruth Johnson and James Blaine Johnson; her sister, Karolyn; brother, Larry; husband, Ronald Schwartzkopf; LeRoy McLean; and son-in-law Phillip Burns.

Connie is survived by her youngest sister, Debbie Hall; her four daughters, Shannon (Gregg) Maxwell, Lee Ann (Jim) Morris, Kerrie (Phillip) Burns and Samantha (David) Mills; seven grandchildren, Nissa Maxwell (Eric Jansen), Kory Mills, Brandon Schneider, Makayla Mills, Ravyn Burns, Taylor Burns, Katelynn Maxwell, and one great-granddaughter Lorelai Rose Jansen with a great-grandson on the way in July, Ronny Lee Michael Jansen, along with many nieces and nephews.

Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Julesburg assisted the family with cremation.
